Since I was accepted to IGAD (International Game Architecture and Design), I wanted to make a series of posts to be helpful for aspiring students in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hi, I am currently applying for IGAD, the visual arts direction, and have the exact same intake assignments. I have just 5 days left now and have almost finished everything. I just want to say how helpful your tips & tricks are, it really helped me look at certain details I would have missed otherwise.
I just have one question, after the assignments is the next phase of the intake, what things should I keep in mind, what do they look for in your portfolio and how heavy does every part weigh? (actually those were 3 questions, but okay)…
I really hope I will be able to go there as well in September. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Kayleigh! Thanks for popping by my humble blog ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t have an interview myself when I applied (because back then the thing wasn’t a mandatory step of the process). One teacher who is part of the team that handles the intakes did tell me that if you end up bringing an art portfolio to the interview, for drawings you should really strive to bring anatomy or value studies and landscape drawings, or even technical drawings you did. If you have fanart, I would recommend you to NOT bring that – unless you’re very confident in the different technical parts of the drawing, like anatomy and composition.

For 3D I would recommend you to think about how you want to present it. If you have the time, uploading your models to Artstation or something so you can have an interactive app where the teachers can zoom around the model without you having to boot up an application is ideal. Unfortunately since I’m not a teacher, I have no clue how the different bits are weighted – sorry! :< At any rate, I wish you the best of luck with your intake! I'll be crossing my fingers for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Hi, thank you for replying so fast and for bringing those parts up, I’m not very good at presenting my portfolio so that really helps a lot. Lets see how it goes, just a few more weeks, I really hope it ends well ๐Ÿ™‚
